My name is Dean Buckley and I’m from Cahir, Co. Tipperary, but now live somewhere even smaller. I was mainly a poet from 2012 to 2016, then a pop culture writer from 2017 to 2021. I’m now an investigative reporter based in South Tipp, and an independent researcher of fringe belief, with a particular focus on conspiracism, extremism and online radicalisation. I am an associate member of the National Union of Journalists.

I used to intermittently write about pop culture here, but now I do it at The Sundae, an award-nominated blog of film, TV and music criticism that I co-created and edit with my friend Ciara Moloney. Since 2021, I’ve also co-hosted and edited our podcast, The Sundae Presents., in which Ciara and I take turns showing each other favourite films the other hasn’t seen before. I initially kept this blog around to host some old writing and carry a list of my clips, but now it carries my original reporting and political commentary.

Feel free to contact me about radio or podcast appearances, writing and editing work, or news tips by email at leftinthelurch161@gmail.com or on Twitter at @deanfbuckley.

Readers who want to support my work by contributing toward my expenses can leave a tip over at ko-fi.

Anyway, don’t read any of the old stuff, unless you think it’s good and it makes you want to hire me.
